HOW DO WE STAY MOTIVATED TO WORK-OUT?

Moving into a new season can be an exciting and motivating time to start all of our healthy routines we want so desperately to incorporate into our lives. We always start out great but as life happens it gets harder and harder to find the motivation to stick with it. Our new Fitness or self-care routine quickly becomes the thing that makes us feel that we are never doing enough. We want to find ways that help us stick to our routines no matter what is going on in our lives. Heres a few tips on how I always find the energy to move my body.

1. Actually carve out time in your day. Saying that you will do it later isn't enough. We all know that half the time it never happens. So put it in your calendar as though if it was a meeting. It is a meeting actually, a meeting with yourself! Sign up for your classes ahead of time, that way it isn't an option to miss out. Use on demand classes, know that you can fit your movement in whenever it works for you! Daily Soul Method Platform has many classes & class lengths to choose from!

2. Motivation isn't enough. I feel like I should repeat that, MOTIVATION ISN’T ENOUGH. Yes you read that correctly, growing up as a dancer and now making a living as a yoga instructor I definitely have had my fair share of days where I was not motivated at all to move. Building discipline within ourselves is what we need to focus on. It takes time and a lot of mental work, but you will be stronger in the end because of it. The discipline you develop while having this mind set will make it very hard for you to stop that momentum you have worked so hard to build. One of my favourite quotes that really gets me going on those hard days is this one from Atomic Habits by James Clear. “Success is the product of daily habits—not once-in-a-lifetime transformations.”

3. Last but definitely not least, BE REALISTIC & find balance. Not every day needs to be an intense 1 hour or more work out. Break it up. Maybe you don't have time for a work out today so you will go for a 20 min walk instead. Make your schedule realistic. Start small and keep building onto that. Its not going to work if it isn’t flexible. When we don’t bend, we break under the pressure.

Try taking these tips into your daily routines and see how it shifts your approach towards consistency. If you found any of this useful I would really appreciate it if you shared it on social or even to just one friend! Your support means so much to me!
